About

A little more about Femi, outside of work.

I have Yoruba names. My first name, Oluwafemi, means “God loves me”, and my surname, Oye, signifies royalty. I go by Oluwafemi, Olufemi, and Femi interchangeably, but, most people call me Femi, pronounced FEH-mee.

Born in Lagos, Raised in Ibadan

Born in Lagos, raised in Ibadan. I grew up in between Nigeria's last military regime and the return to democracy. I remember my family getting our first computer in the late '90s, and I loved messing around in MS Paint, watching Pokémon on the CD-ROM drive, and playing Dangerous Dave.

I have always been driven by building things and improving systems. While studying chemical engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, I dabbled in graphic design and web development, which helped me land my first job. Since then, I've worn many hats and worked across different roles using my design and development skills. I'm a generalist, with most of my experience at startups in both Nigeria and the Netherlands.

I'm constantly evolving. I've called myself a developer, a designer, and an engineer, and I still do. What hasn't changed is that I love using technology to solve problems.

I currently live in Ibadan, Nigeria, with my lovely wife and daughter.

Ibn Battuta is said to have written, "Traveling leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller." I agree.
